Saturday Night Shorts: Film 98
"Lust of the beauteous garden will bait souls of the damned, and only then will they feel the wrath of Eden" - Pope Seymore IV
Three friends are headed home after a night of drinking on the town. After getting in the car, one of them realizes that he lost his keys, so he traces his steps while the other two wait in the car. It's then, alone, that he encounters a woman who is flagging him down for attention. He obliges only to realize this is no ordinary woman. In fact, she may not even be a woman at all.
I tend to visit the ALTER YouTube channel a bit too often when searching for short horror films, so this time I made the decision not to go there for today's review. A random search on YouTube brought me to 188 YouTube channel and the short film, Eden.
I have to say, I am glad I took that detour this morning. At a runtime of a little under six minutes, we get about 4 minutes of plot, so this is easily chalked up to one of those micro doses of indy horror that can be enjoyed with a cup of coffee. Perfect for my Saturday Night Shorts project, even if it does happen to be Thursday. While it may be short overall, it's definitely not short on kills, however they happen mainly in the dark and/or off camera. It's still done very well though and totally understandable given what I assume was a low budget to work with. With that being said, the last ten seconds are a pretty damn fine display of CGI FX presenting a pretty cool looking creature, and the three main characters are likable. Not easy to do in such a short period of time. Bravo!
Eden is definitely worth a watch for horror hounds. It's four minutes at the end of a joyful night gone horribly wrong.
If you'd like to check out Eden for yourself, here is a link to the film on YouTube. Enjoy!
