The Wild Robot completely lives up to the hype! It’s been a long time since an animated movie has made me tear up this much, and I just binged all the Pixar movies a few months ago. A very compelling story about unexpected motherhood, grief, survival, and the inevitable changes you’ll experience as a person. Well, as a wild robot or animal I guess. Easily one of Dreamwork’s best animated movies ever; legitimately top tier stuff. I could write paragraphs about the beautiful animation and how the score is used to bolster those emotional moments! It’s no surprise the team behind How To Train Your Dragon also worked on this. Lupita Nyong’O is having a good year between her A Quiet Place: Day One role and voicing Roz, the titular wild robot. Honestly though, Pedro Pascal was the show stealer for me. There’s this one moment where he wants to tell Roz how much he loves her and his voice starts breaking… pretty powerful stuff. I’m very excited for the sequel and I hope we end up getting a full trilogy adaptation of the books!
