in my opinion, it was a fairly mundane watch, but it captures the messages of the book much better than the more recent(ish) version.
what I found most frustrating was that if comparing the first ten minutes of the film with the last ten minutes, the characters had changed greatly, and the overarching dark messages became prominent, however, the tone of the film hadn't changed at all! maybe the film is black and white but that doesn't mean everything about…

as a film itself, it was good, and i did enjoy it.
however, as someone who has been made to study the book for the last three months (and really likes it), i found it hard to enjoy to a full capacity without noticing literally every single misconception and inaccuracy.

an insanely underrated film that deserves so much more recognition!
