Just so amazing in so many ways, Wes Anderson really tackles this large ensemble cast beautifully to tell a touching story— but in true Wes Anderson fashion. Plenty of dry humour and deadpan delivery. He’s such an incredible filmmaker and has made nothing short of a film I love throughout his whole career. However, there is very clearly something here that other people grasp that I’m just not getting. Movies like FMF and Rushmore are incredibly fun but also with a very solid emotional core to them; this is that also, but for some weird reason I can’t help but feel like there’s a little something missing. I can’t quite put my finger on it, and even on a rewatch I still don’t understand it.
