Stunning visually and miss Depp’s performance is an absolute standout! Although I’m a sucker for gothic horror, ultimately this film did fall flat for me.

It’s giving cover song energy. Bit of a missed opportunity with this one. Ultimately this film is held down by sequel baggage and the protagonists storyline feels diluted at best. Although I’m a Mescal Stan, and remain as much, he is sadly miscast for this role. I’m a massive Ridley Scott fan too, but his last few films have been such a let down. Props to the action scenes tho!

Beautiful but also subtle, a perfect tearjerker - definitely a favourite in the MIFF Short films ❤️
