My patience has finally paid off!
That really was an amazing movie to watch. I hadn’t seen the stage musical in a long while so I was worried I wouldn’t be able to remember much of the story or the songs. Turns out I underestimated myself with the latter because every song came back to me as if I had just listened to them yesterday. That’s the sign of a good musical.

Wow. What a film.
Kevin Costner must have said to himself “You know what? I want my first time in the director’s chair for a movie to be a 3 hour long frontier western epic, and I’ll also star in it.” And that film and Costner ended up winning the academy awards over Francis Ford Coppola AND Martian Scorsese. The DNEG animation felt so familiar but done in such a presentation that I feel like I haven’t seen in a good long while! I loved the retrofuturistic esthetic, typically you see more Steampunk so this was a fresh new take.
