Here we have another movie I haven’t seen since theaters that I’ve wanted to check out.
Unnerving, beautiful, and sometimes difficult to understand. That’s pretty much how one would describe all the movies directed by Robert Eggers. He’s not afraid of making movies that don’t take place in present day. The Northman is Eggers’ biggest movie to date, with a notable grander scale in cast and locations.
Unlike The VVitch and The Lighthouse, Northman is more of an Epic Fantasy Adventure than a horror film. But that doesn’t mean the film is without any creepy imagery sprinkled throughout.
Despite it being his biggest film, I don’t think it’s Eggers’ best. I dock it some points because it feels like it drags on, especially around the halfway point. I wasn’t quite sure when it was going to end. This is me personally, but I’ll stick with The Green Knight.
Nosferatu here we come.
