Love this film, when it gets spooky/gory it does it in a way that's disturbing/haunting without being over the top. A cautionary tale about addiction and grief. The first time I have gotten chills watching a film in years.

Michael Shannon is the goat. I felt bad for him and also feared for his family throughout the film. Was it a dream?? Was it real?? I'll never tell.

The connective tissue is nonexistent between some scenes but damn does he make camera movement compelling. The set design is perfection🥰✨️

The horror was great but the war subplot/background was unnecessary. It weakened the story for me. I also did not like the choice to make the images bleak when the original was so vibrant and full of texture/primary colors.
