Superman 1978
I have a unique relationship to Superman as a cultural figure, because I was raised one city over from the small town of Metropolis, Illinois.
My grandparents lived there for all of my childhood. The town had a population of less than 6,000 at the time, but they took pride in sharing a name with the place Superman called home. There’s a large Superman statue, a yearly convention, a museum, and a Superman contest that I won at the age…

Alien 1979

The Equalizer 2014
So many diabolically funny moments in this movie. The flash iPhone pictures outside of the diner, pushing the little skull ornaments toward the guys on the table before killing them, flicking the lights on and off at the end.
Sara got me the trilogy on 4K. This one looks beautiful in the format. The colors really pop.

Everything about this movie was so fresh, beautiful, and fun. The story was suprisingly mature for…

Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood 2019
“Anybody accidentally kills anybody in a fight, they go to jail. It’s called manslaughter.”
Tarantino has done it again. Every component from cinematography, lighting, soundtrack, direction, editing, writing, pacing, tone, and especially the acting is totally phenomenal. This was my first time seeing a Tarantino film in theaters and that was such a lovely experience. Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt should really just get a joint Oscar for this one, their chemistry is perfect and each of them is so…
