What would you do if you were given the power to create and destroy simultaneously? OPPENHEIMER is a thrilling deep dive into the psychology of power - how it strengthens, festers, curdles. Nolan and his genius team take cinema to new peaks of psychological storytelling. It’s perhaps a bit too proud of its twistiness in the third act, a bit too manicured, a bit too calculated. And yes, some of the famous faces showing up for bit parts throughout took me right out of the film for a bit. But the combined power of Van Hoytema’s images, Lame’s editing, and Göransson’s score is undeniable. This is more than just another biopic. It’s PURE CINEMA.
