Due to the insane amount of praise this gets, I had high expectations. I would be lying if I said I wasn't let down. The first 20-30 minutes of this are bad. The camera work is unbearably shaky and the set up is uninteresting. Not to mention the obnoxiously aggressive color grading takes a while to acclimate to.
Once the initial chaos is over and the basis of a story emerges, I started to enjoy it a lot more. Still nothing to blow me away, but interesting enough to enjoy. The actions scenes are feature an impressive blend of practical stunts and CGI. That's the one praise this movie gets that holds up for me.
The vast array of creative designs for cars were amazing though. The fact that they drove into battle playing their own music was just on a whole other level.
Maybe a re-watch would do this some good.
