What a lovely day...
A montage of hellish apocalyptic madness that tears through the wasteland of weightless blockbusters like an azure-orange cyclone on an unprecedented scale, the likes of which action filmmaking has never seen, and unless Miller makes another one of these, will never see again. Any rough edges this film has (the occasional sped-up shots, obvious ADR) are rough edges that come from problems only movies like Mad Max Fury Road can have, problems that are so insignificant and so small that mentioning them does this automotive epic a grave injustice, because they’re problems I almost miss. It assures us that Miller, master that he is, is still making hard-boiled cinematic miracles that are just as polished as they are rough and dirty. I will NEVER not be upset this didn’t take home Best Picture even though it rightfully took home several other Oscars. (The sound design is so goddamn good it still blows my mind)
If I manage to get even ONE action film in my lifetime that holds its weight against this I will consider it an absolute fucking miracle.
