The Colors Within was a fun time! While the simple script may have lacked any emotional punch, the direction was awe-inspiring. Fluid animation, gorgeous lighting and cinematography draws you into a world of quiet teen anxiety and playful musical moments. It's earnest. It's silly. And there was a Cat Return's reference :3!
I can't wait to see what Yamada does next!
Recommended for Naoko Yamada fans, band anime fans and fans of slice of life!
First of all, it's crazy how Mike and Bryan just came up with the show and pitch with so little time and managed to talk about it for 2 hours or something. I guess it shows how special it was since they were so confident in it. (SPOILERS: It turned out excellent.)
Second, the way they do the animation and actually treat their overseas animators is incredible. People should respect their talented artists…
