Fission vs fusion. Atom vs hydrogen. Before vs after. Sleepless nights fantasizing about what happens to a star when it dies vs sleepless nights fantasizing about what it would look like to see the people you love melt under the heat of a self-made star dying.
The stomping feet of an euphoric crowd’s cheers for decimation plague us from the beginning. Their drumming doubles as the rhythm for a score that interweaves fantastical with pure, unfiltered horror. We are enamored and we are devastated. We are crying out in ecstasy and we are vomiting so hard it runs from our noses. We are rushing forward, ready for the next one and we are digging our nails into the ground, clawing fruitlessly in an effort to stop ourselves before we go any further. Alas, an object in motion stays in motion.
Whether it be joyous or terrified, it all just sounds like screaming by the end.
