A beautifully animated, almost water color looking, film about a lost robot interacting with nature and adopting a gosling. I went in thinking this movie might be like Wall-E in execution but Lupita N’yongo leads an all star cast that includes Pedro Pascal, Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, Matt Berry, Ving Rhames, Mark Hamill, and Catherine O’Hara as the colorful cast of animals.
The movie is also surprisingly adult and fairly honest about how unforgiving the wild can be & with a surprising amount of animal death (The possum kids going from 7 to 6 was hilariously out of left field and particularly funny).
A well told and animated story about motherhood that doesn’t hold your hand. Oscar nom for sure.
