A movie a day keeps the Doctor away.
Personal growth The Movie.
An off color, sometimes Wes Anderson styled, comedic fantasy film that, for the first 45 minutes, was extremely confusing. Even after that, it’s a wild, if not incredibly simple, ride.
Almost entirely set in Kyle Gallner’s apartment, we follow a man who unknowingly ushers the hopeless to their better lives (that may just be the lives they already have) via a hobbit sized door in his closet. He initially comes off very “serial killer-y” but once…
A movie that, I think, is in the same historical fiction/action category as the Mummy, Indiana Jones, and National Treasure, and is overall a fun ride. Is it an award worthy movie? No. But it’s got a great cast with McConaughey, Cruz, Zahn, Wilson and Macy that make this trip down the Niger memorable.
I know this movie had a mixed reception but I get a kick out of the absurd Civil War fiction mixed with the moral plot of solving a possible pandemic. It doesn’t take the serious things too seriously and doesn’t overshoot the ridiculous plot points either. A fun Sunday afternoon action flick.
The best horror flick for a cold snowy day. Genuinely one of my top favorite films that’s Cronenberg alien monster still freaks me out to this day (The spider/dog scene is too damn freaky). The real triumph though is how well written the tense, body snatcher-esque storyline really is. It constantly removing and reintroducing characters into scenes leaving the audience constantly on their toes as to who’s being mimicked.
A scary sci-fi flick that I somehow find comforting this time of year lol.
“If it has to end at least I go out like this. Being Batman” - Kevin Conroy
A hell of a last line for the legend himself.
While I didn’t love this three part iteration of Crisis, this third one is my favorite of the bunch. A satisfying conclusion after two iffy predecessors and a plethora of cameos from all the eras of DC animation.
