La La Land never stops being a fun watch that brings an immediate shot of cheer into one's veins.
It does so right from that serotonin-inducing opening number, that I will always acknowledge, given it's got a 100% goosebump rate on me every time I see it.
As I mentioned in a previous review, the romance story is one that draws the ire of viewers, given it's not exactly a happy ending. GOOD. Life is not always "happily ever after".
But the focus here is DREAMS. The story of Seb and Mia is centered around the fleeting impact they had on one another on the way to their respective dreams.
If I may cross-reference another film here to bring my point home...
That final nod. A quote ran through me:
"...I'd see you there... You wouldn't say anything to me, nor me to you. But we'd both know that you'd made it, that you were happy", Alfred Pennyworth, as played by Sir Michael Caine in The Dark Knight Rises (2012).
