Dune: Part Two 2024
In an absolute masterclass of filmmaking, Denis Villeneuve exceeds the enormous hype surrounding Dune Part Two. Seeing this film was such an experience & reminder of the utter power of Cinema.
Dune Part Two is akin to a Dream Team of filmmaking: yes, Villeneuve is one of the best directors working at the top of his game. But right beside him is Greig Fraser, perhaps the utmost cinematographer in the world right now, firing on all cylinders. Wow did Fraser absolutely…

Red Rooms 2023
Red Rooms (🌟🌟🌟🌟) is a film that really impressed me and left me on the edge of my seat for two hours. This is without question one of the better films I’ve seen this year. This is a Canadian psychological thriller film written and directed by Pascal Plante told in French & starring Juliette Gariépy, who absolutely shines. Gariépy gives off Rooney Mara/Girl With the Dragon Tattoo vibes in a film that succeeds on multiple levels.
Red Rooms is the story…

Fly Me to the Moon 2024
If the year were 1994, a film like Fly Me to the Moon (🌟🌟🌟) would unquestionably receive more recognition than it would in 2024. This film is now free to stream on Apple & I found this to be a delightful, charming use of two hours of my time. Driven by the strong chemistry between Scarlett Johansson & Channing Tatum, Fly Me to the Moon feels like the “middle-class” filmmaking that we’ve slowly seen evaporate over the last 15 years in the…

Nope 2022
In his third feature film Nope, Jordan Peele affirms he is a master storyteller & this generation's Hitchcock. Through deliberate, tactile pieces, Peele brings the fear of darkness to light & does as so many great horror directors before him: slowly pull you in then quickly drag you under. Peele works the audience like few directors I can remember. Then there's Daniel Kaluuya, Peele's ultimate muse. The entire cast, especially Steven Yeun, shine- but Kaluuya continues to show something new with each role. He's so unpredictable & so intense. Another brilliant collaboration between the two. Nope equals WOW.

The Batman 2022
As a masterful, gripping mystery thriller, The Batman smashes our already stout expectations. In the performance of his career, Pattinson is the perfect emo rendition of Bruce Wayne. Reeves displays brilliant direction as he takes audiences through a compact, detailed mystery. And without question, the cast is flawless. Not enough can be said about Zoe Kravitz, John Turturro, Jeffrey Wright, & Collin Farrel, but sorry, Paul Dano. Paul Dano, Paul Dano....and Paul Dano. We're so happy for Dano who, at 37, finally gets his shine in a massive blockbuster. Go see The Batman: it's a definitive comic book hit.
