This Christmas fantasy film is one of the greatest films of all time. What IS the meaning of life, the Universe, and Everything? 42. POWER of prayer is real, whether it is subliminal or tangible. I know it sounds hokey, but I’ve had my prayers answered INSTANTLY a few times in ways that cannot be explained. When George prays, God summons an Angel (2nd class) to learn about his life before helping him. ‘George Bailey’ is a grandiose selfless hero played by my favorite actor of all time..James Stewart. His performance is compelling, morally uplifting, charismatic, and passionate. The special effects are still effective award worthy. World building, while not always entertaining, is immaculate and expansive. George’s huge dreams and plans for his life are always stifled by duty, love, family, responsibility, and his unending and enduring moral compass. ‘Mr. Potter’ is a fantastic one dimensional villain who is cunning and cruel. Frank Capra’s direction is outstanding despite a couple of editing issues which are dwarfed by the positives. The lasting impact this film has is eternal and ingrains itself in our everyday lives subliminally. All the lives we touch through good deeds, our work, family, friends, and sometimes 2nd hand creates eternal ripples that cements our legacy forever. No matter how dark a day becomes, there’s always better days ahead. I’ve seen this in 2 different play forms, and over a dozen times, and it remains one of the best movies ever made.
