Ever since becoming a movie fan I’ve neglected basically any movie before 1977 and the earlier and the more likely it’s going to be black and white the less likely I’ll give it a shot. I’ve seen 7 total live action films before 1970.
Well shame on me.
This was such a breath of fresh air and such a magical experience. Even though only the end is set during Christmas, this has all the ingredients to make a classic Christmas film. It’s message is beautiful and given my health issues, feeling imprisoned and unable live the life I want while everybody else around me is living their best life, and sharing a shitty left ear that can barely hear, I really connected to George Bailey.
This very well could be the catalyst to enter the next phase of my cinephile-dom and begin watching classic movies. Even if it’s not, I now have a new Christmas staple.
