Starts out as promisingly as can be reasonably expected, but an overstuffed plot wore me down until I was begging for mercy by the end. Belluci's thruline, to name just one example, could easily have been axed without affecting a damn thing. I'm glad Burton is feeling a sense of rejuvenation, but this was sub-Dark Shadows levels of fun to me. I did find it hilarious how essential the sex-offending elephant in the room was to this script, and the lengths the film goes to get around it. Might as well have pulled a Deadwood: The Movie at this point. Finally, go ahead and crucify me, but I do not see the appeal of Jenna Ortega. Cute girl, but no range.
