saw 4 is my first major disappointment of the franchise.
i can excuse the wishy-washy narratives of saw 3 because john and amanda’s story really captivated me — i thought it was cleverly unique to have the stakes raised for the killers too, which kept it fresh throughout. however, saw 4 is sluggish and inexcusably ridiculous. while i was invested in parts of rigg’s story, john’s motivation of “oh, this guy loves saving people too much! let’s change that!” negated my interest…
