I am completely biased on this one because the cat in this film resembles my little black cat Raven in every respect. Her vocal tones, behaviour, mannerisms, her size, you name it. When I say I was gasping for breath at points watching that cat in the water scenes, it’s because I was thinking of her.

Nosferatu is a gothic horror slow burn, that is conventional for traditional vampire stories. And it works, regardless of the fact it takes a while to get going, this aspect works incredibly well. As a remake of the 1922 expressionist classic by FW Murnau, I think Robert Eggars did a really good job with this.
This is a story about the love triangle between Ellen, love and death itself, and feels reminiscent of exploring sexual shame, deviance and desire. Eggers…
David Lynch was interviewed by Chris Auty at the National Film Theatre in 1984, about his upcoming release of Dune (1984) - and when asked about his next project, Blue Velvet, he described it like this:
“It’s a murder mystery. There is some darkness and fear in this picture, and some strange sexual things, but there’s also a very nice love story that goes with it as well. And all in the midst of a mood mystery, murder mystery.”
