It took a second watch (on a much cleaner rip) and going through Ishii’s filmography to raise this film a whole star. My first viewing was mostly me trying to decipher a film and not appreciating the visual aspects. So, I went in last night on these last days of August and let the film wash over me like sunshine.

Imagine me, a cat owner, seeing the title of this film, and NOT queue it. The film follows Sayoko and her wagon full of 6 cats as they wander the streets looking for 'temporary' owners. Her encounters with the public are often comedic but I was in tears in the first 20 minutes when an old woman was looking for a companion. I love how ridiculous this film is because if you're not staring at JCVD doing the splits, he's making ridiculous faces or he's.. doing.. the splits.
Bolo Yeung is a bad motherfucker and truly would probably wipe VD around a parking lot if this was real life.

as a native Puerto Rican I can happily say that this documentary captures the magic that is Walter Mercado.
I grew up watching Walter on television in the 90’s and always dismissed him as some kook. I was so touched to see what an incredible human being he was. He had but one message, “mucho y mucho amor”.

This entire production is bonkers and a treat for the eyes. Amusing, sure. Thankful that my other half understands Rocky Horror more than me.
