My Top 100 Films of All-Time
Was in a particularly analytical mood for my annual rewatch today and admiring so much of the visual storytelling at play: the use of lighting, depth, shadows, heights, all so immaculate. Analytical, of course, until every one of the 20 or so times the film bears George Bailey’s heavy soul upon you and the finale where it lifts it all up in rapture. Every year it remains unchallenged as my favourite film ever. You know what’s going to happen with George Bailey each time and each time every beat gets ya just the same.
