Mausoleum is my favorite kind of movie mess. It's as if 2 different filmmakers made this thing: One horribly untalented tv hack and one Argento-like auteur.
The story begins with a ten year old girl at her mother's funeral. The little girl is supposed to leave with her aunt, but instead she runs away - only to conveniently enter the cursed family mausoleum. The little girl is possessed by the demon, and then the movie awkwardly jumps ahead 10 years.
The girl is now a woman with a really nerdy husband (he likes to dance at night clubs. Ha!) and she's got some crazy demon powers that can either rip open your chest or just close the shutters. Seriously, that's what she uses them for... exploding peoples' bodies or closing the door to the kitchen. Everything in this movie is inconsistent (but in the best way possible). Most victims die through telekinesis but then one guy just gets stabbed a lot. The tone also jumps around.
There's a scene with the maid that takes such a strikingly funny tone shift from horror to comedy... it's bizarre.
Also there's a murder that takes place at the mall. This is by far the best scene in the movie. Really great stuff.
I've seen this one twice this month. And some other month I may just repeat that process. Mausoleum is my kinda movie!
