Why the 70s was the best decade of film...

I was fortunate enough to grow up during the greatest decade of film. The studios were willing to experiment like never before or since. Corporate was still a dirty wood in Hollywood, and directors were the new stars. Except for disco, the music was better than ever and so were the soundtracks. Cars had not yet lost their sense of style either. Comic books cost less than a quarter. Baseball card packs even less. And if you were smart enough to take care of both of them?
