This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

While most of Wes Andersons projects are much much bigger, this one was much smaller, which made it a lot more appreciable. The idea, and the overall plot, was a lot smaller and more down to earth (besides the main character getting struck by lightning and getting back up) I really enjoyed it, I feel as though this movie showed a lot more emotion for a Wes Anderson movie as well, and as always there was amazing set design and choice of location.

While many dislike this movie, I think it uses what Wes Anderson has built his career on to a tee. While there are little to no stakes, it gives us a bit of fresh air from all the major hollywood movies with stakes that could “end the world.” I think Wes Anderson was able to make this movie something that very few people in Hollywood are willing to do, so because of that I think this movie is deserving of my rating.

Miyazaki’s been able to express his talent of world building and character creation, however, I believe this film showcases this and so much more. The wide spread shots of Kiki on her broom are beautiful, and I think the motions of every single character are able to express so much more than they are able to in many other movies. I think this movie can be best represented as angel hair pasta, simple, tasteful, and comforting.
