    A piece of history. A hundred and fourteen year old film. I found it on a disc that I can watch whenever I choose to.
    Yes, with a disc I can travel back in time and see the nine circles of hell. Visit the damned through the imagination of Dante Alighieri. Also through the work of Italian filmmakers that never would have thought some random guy in America would see it. Especially a hundred years later!

    Watching again (in color this time) I am struck by how well this film shows the effect war has on the human spirit. The damage to the heart. The way aftermath is presented. How defeat hangs over these people. Then watching them start to heal. To come back. Very nice.

    That is the basic plot of this one. Kind of a Faustian story.
