Raymond has plenty of motherly tendencies.
• He can sing soothing lullabies to ease your worries.
• He probably loves Kmart a little too much.
• And if you were to pass McDonald’s, I’m sure he’d tell you that there is food at home.
No wonder Charlie was never told about his older brother. Raymond and his father were too busy making a fortune at the casino.

Such a layered film with no correct way to interpret it. I love movies like this, which give the audience the freedom to decide what the director is really trying to tell us.
On the surface it’s a great descent into madness film with themes of isolation, starvation and exhaustion playing big roles in this decline of mental stability. Personally, I interpreted this as a split in psyche. The lighthouse itself is a metaphor for Thomas Howard’s state of mind. …

Christopher Nolan has directed some of the most mind boggling and gorgeous movies of this generation, this one falls short of the mark. Though not by a lot, still a great detective thriller with some beautiful Alaskan landscapes.
The performances were done well, everyone fits in nicely but nothing really stands out. Robin Williams just does not work as a villain for me, personally this is just too far out of his range.
