A finely crafted movie in every aspect that builds story and character as good or better than any horror movie I've seen in a good few years. It looks as good to the human eye as a human eye looks to a vampire. It's not "elevated horror" (*wanking motion) and not popcorn horror either, its just a damn good film, all the way around, period. Loved it.

Immaculate 2024
One of my greatest failures in 2024 was not seeing this and The First Omen in theaters because this is sick. What starts out as a normal wide release horror movie, it plays out one half like that then goes full maniac mode Nunsploitation by the end and Sydney Sweeney kills it. Incredible third act.

Eureka 1983
"I don't want your gold. I just want flesh."
You ever come home from work and casually put on what turns out to be one of the best, most oddly epic movies you think you've ever seen? Nicolas Roeg, babyyyy!!
-Certainly one of the weirdest movies that Gene Hackman was ever in
-One of the CRAZIEST kills/death scenes you'll ever see

The Dead Thing 2024
What a straight up magnificent and just plain cool thing it is when you’ve been anticipating seeing a film for what seems like an eternity, and you just KNOW it’s going to be a killer movie because of who is making it, and then you see it and it not only lives up to your expectations but smashes them through the roof. Make more movies please Mr. Kane!

Emilia Pérez 2024
Eric Cartman's Emilia Perez.
Watching this with its Oscar chances ungracefully tanking made it almost bearable.

The Brutalist 2024
It’s good! Brody is terrific. Felicity is terrific. I thought both halves were equally as good. I’m not in a camp that I see has been prevailing online where I strongly prefer one half over the other. However, by the end of part 2, I did seem to feel that the movie is rushed, disjointed, and confused on how to tell a story or conclude as the epic it’s trying to be. Andddd for a 3 and a half hour…

A Real Pain 2024
Totally fine just nothing here really. A Woody Allen wannabe that isn’t as good as even the lightest Allen work. A very early to mid 2000s indie ennui feel. I can see why it didn’t get any love for Best Picture. And Culkin is good but this is the absolute worst example of category fraud I’ve ever seen. There’s absolutely zero argument that he’s any kind of supporting character instead of a lead. A sweet but very slight film.
