A Moment of Romance 1990

yearned to revisit this after watching My Heart is That Eternal Rose but it's been impossible to find for a while, so I was pretty excited to discover Radiance did a 4k restoration a couple years back and it looks gorgeous. I wish more movies satisfied my equally primal desires to see a full-throated beautiful love story and brutal, blood-soaked violence like this one does. Andy Lau is criminally handsome here, quite possibly the hottest + coolest anyone's ever been.

knew nothing about this going in except what's obvious (e.g. Ralph Fiennes is in it, it's a movie called Conclave so it's ostensibly about a conclave to elect a new pope, etc). as it turns out, this belongs to a new subgenre I'd like to call papal noir. and at times kinda felt like an Agatha Christie story playing out in the Vatican. elegant, well-made, while still being super fucking fun. loved it.
