My favorite scene in La La Land is the one where Sebastian persuades Mia to watch Rebel Without a Cause and offers to go watch it together at the Rialto. To watch a movie together, or to share something you love, with a person you hold close to your heart is an act I consider sacred because of how personal and fragile it is. To share something important to you is letting the person get to know you more intimately.
Sharing something you love with a person you care about is a simple yet so intimate act of love. It is my love language because it’s my own way of trying to connect with people. The human connections I yearn for are within reach through the pieces of art I love.
I talk about my favorite films and television series with you because I want to show you my world.
I share and read quotes from my favorite books because they are the words I couldn’t write on my own.
I discuss who my favorite characters are with such depth because I want you to know how I see myself in them.
I play my favorite songs for you because I want you to listen to the music that gives me life.
I write and let you read some of my poems and essays because I want to be understood.
The things I hold dear to me are the keys to my door. When I give you the key, I pray that you will always keep them safe. As we go through the things I love, I also share with you a part of my heart, a piece of my soul, and a place in my world.

One of my favorite lines in the film. What’s even more exalting about sharing what you love is when the person learns to love them as well… A deeper connection is formed and the bond becomes even more special.
When you watch my favorite films and television series, read my favorite books, and listen to my favorite songs, you get to understand and know me better. I appreciate it when people take a moment and try to see the world as I know it.
