Words fail to describe this experience for me. A stirring movie, left my heart absolutely racing. Lily Rose Depp and Nicholas Hoult were jaw droppingly good. Dafoe and Skarsgård were obviously incredible too. I just felt a lot FOR Ellen (shockingly I cried?!), and I felt so open and vulnerable this whole movie. Truly haunting atmosphere, incredible score, and AMAZING LIGHTING (the warm light constantly breaking the black and white).

Happy last movie of 2024. Perfection.

I can’t say I’m well versed in the erotic genre of movies but this was pretty good. Insane dynamic between Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson, but hers was truly a standout performance. I feel like I can literally see what she’s thinking and feeling.

Didn’t like the focus of the camera in many of the shots. But that party scene WOWWEEE.

Romy said something along the lines of this to her husband: I told you I was someone I’m not…

There are so many things to like about this movie, but what stands out most is the fact that the creators fully committed to the type of movie they were making and dialed into the absurdity so so well. Honestly, they could’ve made it MORE absurd and campy. Incredible performance by Kathryn Newton. This is def the kind of movie where if you take it too seriously, it’s gonna be really unenjoyable.

The opening credits and the black and white…

Watching this in theaters on a field trip is probably the most important memory of my young life. Absolutely the best Hunger Games movie and I knew that in 2013. My perfect comfort movie, and probably my most rewatched movie of all time. I ❤️ Peeta.

I was writing silly things to add to this review like “what’s up with that crow?” and “Mary and George sharing the telephone is the equivalent of sharing wired earbuds with your crush,” but got distracted because I am always moved by just how special this movie is. I’ve seen it many times before but I just love it.

Gonna keep watching it for my whole life and crying at the ending. Christmas is a weird time and sometimes a difficult time, but it’s really nice to have a movie like this to feel comforted by.

(PS, look up jimmy “the crow”)

Incredible movie poster, good vibes, horribly stressful mother. Also, that guy believes aristocracy is preferable to democracy?? Wild.

Odd little movie. But Bella Ramsey my beloved ❤️

Besides the fact that this has Russel Brand in it and it was directed by Lena Dunham it’s lovely. It’s also a little weird, in classic Dunham fashion.

Obsessed with Andrew Scott’s costuming here (I mean he eats in a floor length robe of any sort) and also Bella Ramseys narration KILLS ME LOL. I loved seeing the two of them beef in this but then have really special father/daughter moments.

Also okay Joe Alwyn he’s perfect in this?! I loved the font and especially the last 20 mins of the movie.

Another crazy movie theater experience. Not for me tho…… way too surreal and I feel like it left the characters and the story behind for the sake of psychedelic visuals. I think overall it was doing a lot. I did love the heart of the story just not how it got there.

I can also recognize I didn’t go into this knowing the novel, the story of the author, or where this movie came from, and that definitely contributed to my feelings for the film.
