Now we can confidently say that Denis Villeneuve has adapted the seemingly unadaptable.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. It is also an incredible deconstruction of the dangers of charismatic leaders, as well as a brilliant allegory for how western countries have twisted religion and used superstition/propaganda to manipulate the Middle East/South Asia/Africa throughout history in order to seize political power and wealth through the control of natural resources.
The most Soderberg-esque Fincher movie (except it’s also a seemingly personal character study, possibly about David Fincher himself in a super meta way). The film also contains one of the best and most visceral (thanks in part to the sound design) fight scenes I’ve seen in quite some time.
