Erik (Taylor’s Version)’s review published on Letterboxd:
Hey guys. Going forward, I’m going to be inplimenting a slight change to the way I rate and score movies. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, some movies get a “[*number here/100]” score and others get more jokey ratings like how I gave Wonka a “[Poor 🤢/100]” when I saw it the second time or gave The Marvels “[Brie Larson in a white tank top/100]” the third time I saw it. While I’ve been very inconsistant with how I impliment those different ratings, moving forward, I’m going to create two distinct categories. If I’m reviewing either a serious drama, awards contender or simply a movie where I don’t think a joke rating is appropriate (see something like The Hunger Games series, Godzilla Minus One or The Boy and The Heron for recent examples), they will be getting number scores. If they’re lucky enough to be one of the best films I’ve ever seen, they will get a [100+/100], meaning that I think they literally break the scale with how good they are and 100/100 doesn’t do them justice. However, more lighthearted movies will get joke ratings (Anyone But You, Wonka, It’s A Wonderful Knife). This way, I don’t feel bad about giving shit like It’s A Wonderful Knife and Killers of The Flower Moon or Past Lives the same scores despite one just being a dumb fun little time and the others being two of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Is it confusing?? Absolutely. Do I care??? No. Not really
