The psychological tête-à-tête and the racial themes are present once again, but it largely functions as a standard slasher sequel, which means it's fun in bursts but rarely rises above its direct-to-video ambitions (even though that term isn't totally applicable; among other odd release decisions, it premiered on TV in the States and got a theatrical release in France—what was going on here?). Tony Todd is beyond reproach, everyone else seems to know the words but not the music.
