Hit like a truck. Left feeling broken. But to Wim, and to the whole crew, this story couldn’t have been in better hands. I can’t quite find the words or energy to write a review at this time. But, in a couple of words, it’s just.. beautifully haunting. We’re imperfect humans, and make mistakes — we wish we could be better sometimes but fail to make the change to become better. You can’t change the past, but you can change the future. A lovely reminder ‘’Paris, Texas’’ presents us.

Ian Donnelly: If you immerse yourself into a foreign language, then you can actually rewire your brain.

Louise Banks: Yeah, the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis. It's the theory that the language you speak determines how you think and...

Ian Donnelly: It affects how you see everything.

The best way to describe this film is to imagine if each individual scene had a different director directing it; with a script written the day before; and the intention of never releasing it.

It's a bland, pretentious and poorly made film with the cinematography being the only highlight for its nearly three-hour runtime. It's not just the forgettable performances to exaggerated over-the-top directing, but the story at its core is a mess, it misleads the audience entirely. Showing no…

Perhaps Scorsese’s most entertaining movie. Its re-watchability makes it worth while and I can see myself enjoying more with each re-watch.

Very much similar to films such as The Trial (1962) & Wake in Fright (1971), After Hours takes a contemporary and seemingly simplistic approach to the nightmarish, Kafkaesque world that we see. But, on second viewing it seemed a lot deeper.
