What Wicked (part one) lacks in subtlety and conciseness, it makes up for by just being a really fun, happy-go-lucky time at the movies. And that's how the vast majority of audiences will receive it, purely as spectacle, with a bucket of popcorn and an icy green slushy. Except there's more to unpack: a potent political message. Which again, is less than subtle - but 1000% relevant to our time.
