It wouldn’t be Giallo January without revisiting one of the corner stones. Still one of the best examples of a director coming out of the gate swinging telling you EVERYTHING you need to know about them.

The Strange Vice of Mrs Wardh 1971
Edwige Fenech defends her crown as the Yellow Queen in this VERY unique Giallo which has, for my money, possibly the most surprising conclusion I have seen in this genre. And that score? Forget about it! Great stuff.
(Speaking of that score: At one point I thought “Holy shit! That’s that music cue used in Kill Bill Volume 2 when Michael Madsen is talking about revenge.” I always loved that track and wondered about where it came from.)

Moonlight 2016
A LONG overdue filling in of a movie blind spot.
The acting was tops all around. Also a big fan of the segues between each of the 3 acts. All in all this entirely subverted my expectations of what was going to happen throughout the story and how the relationships between the characters played out. I’m never mad about that. It’s emotional power is impossible to deny.
