Stevie is so dexterous. Jumps from crime to thriller to New Hollywood road movie to horror to medium paced sci-fi (the sometimes forgotten sibling to sci-fi action and its cooler sister, slow sci-fi) like its absolutely nothing. The scale on and texture on this movie is so wildly mature that I find myself sitting and kind of forgetting that its aliens occasionally because I like the human stuff about obsession in chasing a high calling so enthralling
