Almost everything is derititive of the first film except for Denzel Washington, which makes it a relatively enjoyable experience but the cast were let down by the script. Although it's great to see Ridley Scott making serviceable epics it also convinced me that filmmakers who want to tell epic action stories need a background in visual effects. A comedy as much as it is a tragedy, Anora is as entertaining as Uncut Gems and as endearing as American Honey. Sean Bakers best work by far and his compelling writing is rewarded with arguably the performance of the year by Mikey Madison. A film that doesn't feel it's runtime and always makes the characters questionable in their actions but faultless in their convictions.
