Rise, Dawn and War are my favorite movie trilogy of all time…all 3 are in my top 50 favorite movies of all time and 2 of them are in my top 10 favorite movies. If anyone was going to love this it would be me…but also if anyone was going to hate this attempt at a continuation, it would also be me.
From the first minute of this, iykyk, I knew I was in good hands. You can just immediately sense the respect, admiration and love that Wes Ball and the writers had for the trilogy, for Caesar, for Rupert Wyatt, for Matt Reeves, for Michael Giacchino’s score…I was so immediately relieved and happy.
The rest of the movie just continues to immerse you, look stunning, and actually have something to say. That’s more than can be said for so many franchise blockbusters.
I don’t know what this series will have in store but I’m seated for all things Planet of the Apes as long as the people making it are as respectful and passionate about the stories and ideas as these ones are.
