Στις περισσότερες ταινίες του ο Μιγιαζάκι κάνει απόλυτα ξεκάθαρες με τρόπο αποτελεσματικό και γοητευτικό τις θεματικές που τον απασχολούν, αλλά αμφιβάλλω αν υπάρχει σημαντικότερη απεικόνιση, σεναριακά, σκηνοθετικά, αισθητικά αυτών των ιδεών απ'ό,τι στην Πριγκίπισσα Μονονόκε. Πιθανότατα το magnum opus του, αποτελεί ένα έργο τέχνης ολότελα καθηλωτικό, με κρυμμένη (ή και εμφανέστατη) σπουδαιότητα σε κάθε σιωπή, σε κάθε πινελιά λάσπης και πρασίνου. Μοναδικός.
