It's a Wonderful Life 1946
oscillates almost the entire time between viscerally depressing and "happy" moments in such a structure where the true bleakness of the situation is never fully understood by george before the next moment of joy glosses it over.
late at night, coming home from work, he walks into the bedroom while his wife sleeps. its dark, the house is less than perfect, he doesnt enjoy his work, and the threat of going out of business looms over him. then, the sound…

Ulukayın 2024
i made a new movie!
i'm really glad with how it turned out, i've been struggling a lot with feeling disconnected from nature and also central asian / kazakh culture, and while i was beginning to film this movie, i was learning about tengriism, and the ideas of it had resonated with me, so it kinda found it's way into the film and made it what it is now.
please feel free to leave a review or comment with feedback/thoughts if you do watch!

I Saw the TV Glow 2024
idk i think its cruel and takes a stark and miserable turn into pure dysphoric horror in act three which i don't really know what to think about and i think owen feels less like a person and more like a symbol (in contrast to the enchanting first act where owen and maddy feel incredibly real and developed) which i don't know how i feel about but also i don't feel qualified to speak on any of this and i can't say that i thought it wasn't incredibly effective emotionally for a majority of the movie so yeah idk

The Watchers 2024
edit: i take it back sorta . good movie
really disappointing, the core set piece / premise of the grey minimalistic room with a mirror on your side but a window on the ouside with creatures that watch you is so powerful visually; it has so much potential for so many ideas and the movie goes in the least interesting directions possible. ends up being more about the watchers than the watched; to its detriment. its pretty though!

daysong 2024

"nightsong" was about the experiences that I had while visiting my grandparents in spring of last year. to state plainly it was about the concern that i had for my grandmother's health as she battled cancer.
unfortunately, my grandmother passed away in october of that year. that movie has taken an entirely different meaning now, and it feels far too personal for…

Late Night with the Devil 2023
uses 0 of its conceptual strength, what i thought would be an effective and unique feature length foray into "lost media" horror ended up being just like very Normal
its still fun sometimes because of david dasmalchian
