I have been looking forward to this since I first saw it was coming out. The Wild Robot feels like a Culmination for DreamWorks in story telling, visual animation, heartwrench and warming emotions and just an instant classic in the anals of cinema.
Saw it in 4DX 3D and this film was probably the first time that 4DX was completely and perfect utilized.
The Wild Robot starts simply in the same place it's trailer does with a Robot waking up after being activated in a stream on an island somewhere unknown of why it's there or what it's meant to do. The story unfolds organically with beauty and sadness wrapped around every piece of the movie. The film just feels right. The jokes aren't forced. The tears aren't forced. Nothing feels like they have to try and make you emote whether it's Pedro Pascal being the beloved rascal of a fox. Lupita Nyongo being the best mother anyone could be even when 0's and 1's tell her to follow an imperative that are superseded by a heart she doesn't technically have. I have nothing but good things to say.
The voice talent was wonderful. The music and sounds were great. The villain was a grade A robot sociopath embodied by the comparable Stephanie Hsu.
Go see this with Anyone. Children. Friends. Significant other. There is no wrong person to laugh and cry at this movie with.
