Toluca Lake's Upscale Continental Has Closed After Only Seven Weeks

Ownership had a change of heart.

Just shy of the eight week mark, Toluca Lake’s Continental has closed its doors. A call to the restaurant today confirms as much, with no timetable for re-opening.

It’s a quick down-and-out for the Valley eatery, which transformed in February from Mo’s Fine Food into the classier Continental, complete with a menu full of global influences like Moroccan chicken and bucatini carbonara. Their burgers were among the most talked-about dishes on the menu, and actually landed on our Hottest Burgers list last week.

Word of the closure started flowing in late last week, with customers posting their condolences to the Continental Facebook page. One tipster told Eater that the restaurant stopped serving over the weekend; after an excruciating wait and a few mixed up dishes, they say, management copped to closing basically as soon as the diners were out of the restaurant.

It’s a sad day for restaurants in the Valley, which otherwise have been on an absolute tear lately.
