Common steps in implementing Extended Technical Support:

  1. Conduct an evaluation of your department's current information technology
  2. Formulate a plan for current and future technology needs
  3. Evaluate the amount of technical support needed
  4. Begin the hiring process
  5. Submit proper forms

Depending on departmental need, it may not be necessary to hire a full-time technologist. In these cases, a technologist will be shared between departments. As a result, a single department will pay only a percentage of the technologist's salary based on the amount of workstations serviced.
