Tablets running Windows: If you use a university-owned tablet computer that runs a Windows operating system, see the instructions above for laptop encryption.

Tablets running iOS (i.e., iPads): You will need to have a PIN set in order to activate the built in encryption. This policy will be set on all university-owned iOS tablets and managed through the Casper Suite management system. 

Tablets running Android: You must set a complex password and enable the encryption manually.  Go to Settings, then Security, and then tap Encrypt device.  If a PIN is not yet set for the tablet, it will require you to enter one.  You are responsible to ensure you know the PIN, as there is no recovery process if it’s ever forgotten.
