I find myself pondering the whole TLS/PKI mess. I say mess because the "trusted thrid parties" (always a bad idea imho) are clearly not trustworthy.
My Pondering went like this.. we need the underlying protocol to be encrypted by default. something very like Tor hidden services or I2P where you don't need to worry about it being encrypted or verified because the transport layer does all that by default.
But is there such a thing??
IPsec is geared towards VPN's
TCPCrypt seems a bit of an expirimental hack and probably not well supported by the masses
OE never seems to have happened and would be unauthenticated at best.
My current compromise is to use TLS with a self signed Cert. that I add to devices needing to access things on my server. All well and good for Mumble, XMPP (S2C), SMTP, IMAP, etc..
but no use at all for my website. I know theres "Let's Encrypt" but to me that seems like throwing effort into a lost cause.
Anyone know of something that would work to up the level on encryption on my webserver from none to more then none without buying into a broken and failing system?
'Let's Encrypt' is making large impact, from what I hear, no? But really, the internet is not likely to be secure, ever. Seems always to require case-by-case communications and publishing judgement calls. Leaving little ant trails of one's digital foot-prints for future generations of electronics users.

I could've told you that.
Duplicate notes are real duplicates, with different ID's, so yes, deleting one deletes only that one.
The 'delete' activity can't duplicate, because once the object is deleted, a hypothetical second 'delete' to the same thing would just fail.

Sorry missed you telling me about deleting.. probably in all the noise..
I understand what you are saying but does my deleting cause some loop the suceeds once and then just sits there throwing errors as it loops like what ever is creating the dups. Or are the dups being caused not by a server side loop but rather a client -> server malfunction such as:
send action -> server
server -> DB
server files to notify of sucess
timed out so send again -> server
In which case I could prevent dups by not waiting for the client to think it suceeded.
If the dupes are real...

They've probably updated QOAuth to 2.x, built with Qt 5, which means that Parabola's Dianara needs to be built with Qt 5 now =)

That's why I did use arch, because stuff broke now and then, and then I could learn something by trying to glue together the pieces :)
Then I started maintaining a debian package...

I noticed it, too, but it's a DIanara thing...
Been watching and have some more insight.. seems to be an issue that occure when my tiling WM (i3) resizes the dianara window.
e.g. launch Dianara..
dianara shows up no a tiled window on the left.. everything ok
press meta + w (switch to tabbed instead of tiled mode)
dianara now full screen but comments are hosed (long blanks thing).

There is a locky/Ransomware deluge going on right now. I normally block IP's of hosts trying to spam out Ransomware. (Always some compromised system rather then an actual SMTP server). Normally I get to relax after blocking about 100 IP's, Done or at least down to a very small trickle.
This week I'm up to over 400 IP and there is no sign of abatment. And they are coming relatively fast. (several an hour). Now I could just ignore them as they are all blocked by my spam filter rules. bat as the are a.) a compromised system and there for undesireable. and b.) wasting bandwidth. I just prefer to blacklist the IP temporarily.
I don't know what they've changed but best I can figure is they've set it up now so each new infection does an e-mail blast and then goes silent. I don't want to think this is true because if it is computers are getting infected at break neck speed. I pondered if it was an IoT thing but most of the stuff hitting my SMTP server seems to be from Infected PCs or servers.
If I'm seeing this much on my tiny SMTP server I can't imagine the flood that must be hitting major e-mail providers.
Update:
Might be an IoT thing after all.. just tried telnet'ing back to one that just Tried to spam me and got a "Login:" prompt. :/
